SAKURA
This sushi/Tai restaurant and bar, Sakura, was inspired by the graceful curves found in marine environments. The ebb of ocean waves can be seen in the flowing curves applied to the lighted ceiling soffits. These same outlines were mirrored below in the design layout of the slate flooring with the major traffic isles utilizing multi-colored tiles and the remaining room areas utilizing solid black colored slate. Even the shapes of light diffusers hanging over the bar and the back bar shelving are reminiscent of fish tail fins. Shortly after opening, the restaurant’s design received an AIA award for Interior Design.
